All about Pyjama Drama
Pyjama Drama (previously known as Dinky Drama) was founded in 2005 by Sarah Owen. Having taught drama in Primary and Secondary schools, Sarah knew the immense benefits children derive from drama. These include:
- Improved concentration
- Improved self confidence
- Improved co-operation skills
Being a parent to three young children, Sarah realised that every parent is concerned that these vital life skills are developed in their own children from an early age. After searching in vain for creative classes to take her youngest child to, Sarah decided to set up a class of her own.
Pyjama Drama began in her own home town of Welshpool, Mid Wales and was an immediate success. The classes are designed for children from 20 months to 7 years old. Sarah now runs numerous classes on a weekly basis and to date has delivered sessions to hundreds of children and her groups are regularly oversubscribed.
Sarah provides training for adults working with young children – play groups leaders and nursery nurse assistants for example. She also works with trainee teachers to enable them to teach drama and creative movement with confidence in Primary schools
